Nothing Sob-Worthy About Saab

I'm a girl who loves sparkle and a great punch of color. So there's no question which collection of French Fashion Week caught my eye and wouldn't let go. Elie Saab. He opened his show with a few pearly-hued pieces, but followed with color color color, leading no question as to how Saab chose the slightly unoriginal title for his collection, Color Shock.

Elie has plenty of supporters, the majority of whom rock a red carpet now and then. Am I the only girl who looks at fancy dresses and thinks to herself, "If I were famous, I'd totally wear that on the red carpet"? If I am, I don't care, I'll still fantasize. For those famous women who can actually look at an Elie Saab gown and think, "I'll wear that to that premier next week," this ready-to-wear collection is definitely for you.

Trend Alert: Colored Pants

Fall is finally here! After weeks and weeks of waking up to a surprisingly warm September sun, we Seattlites are back to what we know: clouds and rain. But never fear! The transition into fall means one thing, my dear friends - a new fall wardrobe! Bring out those sweaters, wool socks and raingear, it's bundling time!

One of my favorite trends for the upcoming autumn season is..... please hold your applause until the end.... colored pants!! see what I did there? Now, I'm an admitted denim lover - I'll probably die wearing my favorite pair of jeans.. But I'm totes ready to jump aboard this bandwagon, full throttle, all engines go, no strings attached, and with every other preposition.

Whether they be pink, mustard, navy, green, red or brown, let's ditch the standard blue jeans this fall and opt for pants in these trendy hues. Because what would Pocahontas do? Paint with all the colors of the wind*.

*not that she ever wore pants..

Fashion Like a Mustard Seed

...I'm hoping it's not terribly blasphemous of me to tweak Matthew 13:31 for the sake of a clever title...

But nonetheless..

If I've learned anything in my twenty-one years on this earth, it's this: you either hate yellow or you love yellow. Right? Ironically enough, it's probably the least "mellow" color in the rainbow, and it's my favorite. Bananas, sunflowers, lemons, labradors, the sun, Spongebob! Everything cool is yellow*. As summer comes to an end, my love for this pigment has me turning to a slightly darker hue for the fall season.
I give you -- mustard.

*Exception: mustard, the condiment. #notafan.
