Chambray Love

I realize I'm somewhat slow on the uptake... I only recently decided to purchase my own chambray top from H&M and I love it! But I need some inspiration on cute ways to wear it.... ahem:

(I realize some of the pictures are real chambray and some are denim, but eh, they can be worn similarly)

6 Golden Globe Trends

I love fashion, I love celebrities, so of course I love awards season! Last night were the Golden Globes, celebrating the best in TV and Movies. It always seems like the stars' stylists work together, because there are always trends that are popular among the rich & famous on the red carpet. Here are the SIX trends I noticed last night:

1. Glittering Headbands

Michelle Williams, Charlize Theron, and Busy Phillips topped off their evening looks with pretty sparkling bands, accessorizing from head to toe -- literally.

2. Translucent Ends

Piper Perabo, Jenna Dewman, and Jessica Biel found a way to show off their legs while wearing floor-length gowns, by opting for ones with sheer skirts.

3. Yellow!

Paula Patton, Miriella Enos, Maria Menounos and Julia Kurbatova shocked the sea of blacks, reds, and neutrals with this sunny hue -- making this trend my favorite of the award show.

4. Tiers and Tiers

Actresses like Amanda Peet, Helen Mirren, Dianna Agron, and Julianne Moore brought a bit of hippie chic to the Globes by wearing dresses with tiers -- whether all over like Mirren and Agron, mermaid-esque like Moore, or long tiers throughout like Peet's -- not a tier was shed against them.

5. Peacock Blue

Freida Pinto, Berenice Bejo, Sofia Vergara and Kelly Osbourne wore different silhouettes, all while rocking this deep sea shade.

6. Nude Dresses

The most popular trend was by far opting for nude-hued gowns. Stars like Katharine McPhee, Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, Giuliana Rancic, Diane Lane, Elle Macpherson and Kate Beckinsale chose this tried-and-true shade to set off the bright red of the carpet. And while it's a chic choice, it was over-played in my opinion.

Aaand I have to mention one of my surprise favorites -- Zooey Deschanel! Her one-of-a-kind silk and sequins Prada gown stood out for its color and its silhouette. It was a gorgeous dress that was just so different than anything I've seen before on red carpets. Well done, Zooey!

What was your favorite trend? Was there a Stand-Out that I didn't mention? Let me know, comment below!

Pretty Pale Pastels to Please Your Palette

Last year, color blocking was the trend of choice. But not just any color blocking -- these neons were bright. As in, wear-your-sunglasses-indoors bright. After a dauntless debut at the 2011 Spring Fashion Shows in the RTW collections of Haider Ackermann, Prabal Gurung, and Jil Sanders (to name a few), this trend showed up again and again on celebrities throughout the year -- remember these fearless numbers?

As blinding fun as that was, it's time for a color-blocked update! Say AU REVOIR to the bold & bright neons, and say BONJOUR to the pretty, pale pastels of this season's RTW! This season's fashion shows launched collections with the sweet-as-cake hues -- including 3.1 Phillip Lim, Calvin Klein, Giambattista Valli, and Louis Vuitton. Here are some of my favorite looks straight from the runway!

Vera Wang

Calvin Klein Collection

Jonathan Saunders

Giambattista Valli

3.1 Phillip Lim

Fendi

Hussein Chalayan

Valentino

Richard Nicholl
But more important than the "upscale pale" is the "retail pale." See what I did there?

So where can you find these fabulous trends? The next section is what I would call "Editor's Picks" for the pastel palette of the upcoming spring season:

I love these two looks from JCrew! Their toothpick jean in twill comes in multiple pastel hues, and those patent pumps! I die. Not to mention that beautiful waterfloral dress worn over a chambray blouse. I love JCrew's preppy take on current trends!

Topshop also has great pale pieces to add to your wardrobe! Not one to shy away from a graphic print, Topshop brings pastels to new heights in their Geo Tunic, along with their Tie-Knot Tunic, Airex Crop Top, and MOTO Striped Hotpants. If that doesn't get you in the mood for spring, I don't know what will.

Nordstrom is another great place to find the best trends. Here are my favorites from the department store:

Tarnish Straw Boater Hat
Equipment Sleeveless Silk Shirt

Kate Spade Floral Dress
Caslon Short Sleeve Jersey Tee

Free People Sheer Panel Shirt

Splendid 'Palm Desert' Belted Maxi Skirt

Enjoy putting a little pale pleasure in your spring wardrobe! (Never mind the fact that it's still the middle of winter and it's actually snowing here in Seattle...)
