Oscar Gold

Meryl Streep walked away with the golden statue that she deserved - and by the looks of her gown, she dressed to match her third award! The 62 year-old and reigning Best Actress wore my favorite frock of the night, a glittering golden gorgeous Lanvin gown.

My other favorites?

Gwyneth Paltrow in a beautifully simple and chic white Tom Ford gown -

Angelina Jolie wore an Atelier Versace dress in - SURPRISE - black.

Jessica Chastain dazzled in a gold and black Alexander McQueen gown:

Kristen Wiig's frilly nude J. Mendel dress

And of course, Michelle Williams killed it in her Louis Vuitton layered frock:

My biggest let-downs?

As gorgeous as she looked, Emma Stone's red, big-bowed Oscar gown is a little too similar to the red, big-bowed Oscar gown Nicole Kidman wore in 2007..

Cameron Diaz's Gucci dress was a pretty pale pink color, but I was not a fan of the rags attached to the bottom of her hem. Also - what happened to her hair?

And this brings to a close my style stalking of awards season. Until next year..
Who did YOU think rocked the red carpet? Comment below?

30 Best Oscar Dresses

For those of you who know me, you know I love awards season. And if you really know me, you know I really love the Oscars. That's right. Come Sunday eve I'll be sitting in front of the telly, oogling over the dresses, crossing my fingers for Gary Oldman and Meryl Streep, laughing at Billly Crystal, and silently preparing my acceptance speech for future use.

The Academy Awards have always been something to get excited over. I can vividly remember watching the Oscars when I was eight, because it was my birthday that day. My eight-year-old reasoning had me convinced that because the Oscars fell on my birthday, it was a sign I would one day be hoisting the golden statue in the air, thanking my parents and choking back tears. As you can imagine, I was a somewhat dramatic child...

Anyways, even back in the day I knew the Oscars were fabulous. I can remember wearing my favorite dress -- a mint and white gingham frock with daisies on it -- watching Helen Hunt accept her award, and Titanic taking home the biggest honor. That was also the night I first fell in love with Drew Barrymore, because - HELLO - she had DAISIES in her HAIR.

This being a fashion blog and all, I thought I'd present a post dedicated to the beautiful gowns that stick out in my mind from 1998-2011. Spoiler alert: No, I didn't include Halle Berry's famous sheer Elie Saab gown; it's an iconic dress for sure, just not one of my favorites.

What did I learn on my quest for the best?
  • The late 90's where a dark time for Oscar dresses
  • Sometimes accessories really make a dress. *see Angelina Jolie
  • 2006 was the BEST year in Oscar fashion ever, EVER.
  • I have a thing for red dresses
  • And glittery ones

Okay that's all, here's the countdown to the number one Oscar dress of all time!

Fashion Week Review: Helmut Lang

It's here. Fashion Week. Flex those fingers, fellow fashion followers (#alliteration). It's time to scour the Almighty Internet in search of the wondrous collections currently strutting down the runways of NYC. For those of you who, like me, lack the time, funds and connections to actually attend any fashion show, I suggest browsing this site for their in-depth coverage of all things stylish.

After two full days of runway shows, I can say my favorite is Helmut Lang's Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear Collection. I'm telling you, the way to my heart is great blazer. And I'm in love with the unique jackets of Helmut Lang. Designers Nicole and Michael Colovo began with a white leather lapel-less blazer paired with shiny black skinny jeans, and ended with a printed chiffon mullet dress and thigh-high suede boots. Everything in between was an exploitation of texture; leather, suede, fur, chiffon, silk. The loose formed jackets and tops were off set by skinny pants and tall boots. The designer duo also displayed their own interpretation of the recently trendy infinity scarf, even constructing one into a weaved top. What's on my wish list, you may ask? Any one of the belted fur jackets. In the words of Rachel Zoe, "I die."

Enjoy some of my favorite pieces. For the entire collection, go to style.com.
